JAS Salutes the Parish of Manchester
KINGSTON, Jamaica… May 19, 2015

On behalf of the Jamaica Agricultural Society and our 228,000 farmers, I wish to salute the parish of Manchester in the celebration of their 200th Anniversary even as the JAS celebrates 120 years of contribution to the development of agriculture in Jamaica.

It is in this regard that I wish to commend the citizens of Manchester, in particular, the work of the JAS to the development of the Parish over the years. The farmers in Manchester amounts for 21,623 of the country’s 172,617 registered farmers and for the year 2013 accounts for 118,470 metric tones of the 614,912 metric tones of domestic crop production representing 19.3 % and moving a head of the 116,160 metric tones produced in St. Elizabeth for the same period.

The JAS continues to work with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, RADA, Jamaica 4-H Clubs, the MP’s, Parish Council and farmers to continue agricultural development in the Parish.

Again, well done and congratulation Manchester and join the JAS at the 63rd Denbigh Agricultural Show on July 31 – August 2, 2015 as we continue the celebration of the various milestones.

Let us continue to Grow What We Eat ….Eat What We Grow.
